National Support

The School for Social Entrepreneurs Scotland was established in Fife in 2002. It became an independent national school in 2012 and is a provider of specialised workshops and training for social business, social enterprises and charities that benefit the communities in which they live.

Senscot work to ensure that social enterprises in Scotland have the support they need to deliver positive outcomes in their communities. In particular, they seek to represent the interests of SENs, their members and other frontline social enterprises by liaising with the Scottish Government to ensure that policy creation is both fair and effective.

Social Enterprise Scotland is an independent, Scottish, membership-led organisation, built and controlled by social enterprises. They are the first point of contact for the media and public and promote a positive vision for social enterprise. They pro-actively engage with social enterprise partners, the public sector, the media, the private sector and the wider public.

Social Enterprise Academy work at local and national levels, bringing together learners to share and learn together, at all stages of personal and organisational growth. With a successful track record in Scotland, they are now replicating internationally as a social franchise.

CEIS Group is focused on making Scotland a better place to live and work with a more inclusive economy. They support businesses, communities and individuals throughout Scotland and are also engaged internationally in social enterprise development. The Group is comprised of CEIS, which is a charitable social enterprise and two subsidiaries; DSL Business Finance and CEIS AyrshireCEIS is also in a joint venture with Social Value Lab.

Social Value Lab only take on assignments that are of value, and where they can add value. Sometimes they respond to tenders and deliver as consultants, sometimes we develop new programmes and deliver in partnership. Combining rigorous analysis with clear communication, they present evidence in a simple, accurate, and compelling way.

Firstport support individuals all across Scotland to start, develop and grow their ideas into businesses with social impact at their core. A registered charity they started work in 2007 to help social entrepreneurs bring forward their ideas and to make them happen. Since then the organisation has grown and evolved. Firstport has supported thousands of individuals and distributed millions of pounds of start-up funding.

Social Firms Scotland is the national support body for Social Firms in Scotland. A Social Firm is a specific type of Social Enterprise where the social mission is to create employment, and meaningful work (including training and volunteering opportunities) for people who face significant barriers to employment – in particular, people with a disability (including mental ill health and learning disabilities) a substance abuse issue, a prison record, a homelessness issue and young people.

Just Enterprise is a programme designed to help sustain, develop and grow social enterprises and enterprising charities in Scotland. Funded by the Scottish Government, Just Enterprise offers targeted and tailored support to complement and enhance the advice available to you locally.
